The first question of Fatwa number ( 17626 )
Q 1: Is one ignorant of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) excused?
A 1: One is excused by ignorance if the argument has not been established against him, meaning he has not been informed of anything about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). His ruling is the ruling of the people of the interval (al-fatra); he will be tested on the Day of Resurrection, and if he succeeds, he will be saved, and if he does not succeed, he will perish. As for the one who has been informed of the mission of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) or has heard something of the Book and the Sunnah, he is not excused by ignorance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
