Fatwa No. ( 3105 )
Q 1: Is it permissible for a Muslim to elect a person who adheres to communism or mocks religion and adheres
to nationalism and considers it a religion?
A 1: It is not permissible for a Muslim to elect a person for municipal councils or other departments if he knows that the person is a communist, or mocks Islam, or has adopted nationalism or considered it a religion; because by electing him, he has approved him as his representative and assisted him in assuming a position from which he can cause corruption, appoint those who share his principles and beliefs, and potentially exploit that position to harm those who disagree with him and deprive them of some or all of their rights in that department or others by virtue of his position, and exchange benefits with his colleagues in other departments; and because it encourages him to persist in the false principle and execute what he desires.
Q 2: Is it permissible for a Muslim to associate with people who adhere to communism, and is it permissible for him to support them, and what is Allah’s ruling on one who does so?
A 2: It is not permissible for a Muslim to associate with those whose beliefs are corrupt for other than a legitimate Shari'ah interest, such as communists, Druze, and Qadiyyanis, or those whose morals are bad; for fear that their beliefs will spread to him, or that his morals will deteriorate through their companionship and sitting with them, or that he will become a subject of suspicion and accusation at the very least, and in accordance with the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 5534 narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and it is not permissible for him to support them in falsehood either; because that involves cooperation in sin and aggression, and Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'idah 5:2] , and whoever mixes with them or assists them in their deviation has done wrong and oppressed to the extent of his alliance with them and support for them, and he must advise them and guide them to the truth if he is qualified to do so; if they accept the advice, praise be to Allah, otherwise he should avoid them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

The example of a good pious companion and an evil one is that of a person carrying musk and another blowing a pair of bellows. The one who is carrying musk will either give you some perfume as a present, or you will buy some from him, or you will get a good smell from him, but the one who is blowing a pair of bellows will either burn your clothes or you will get a bad smell from him.
