The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 1788 )
Q4: A man who smokes, is his testimony accepted?
A4: There is no doubt that smoking is forbidden; due to many pieces of evidence from the Book and the Sunnah, and due to what the experts have reported regarding its harmful effects on health, wealth, and society. Therefore, one who uses it, whether by smoking, selling, or manufacturing it, is disobedient to Allah and His Messenger. As for the acceptance of his testimony, it varies depending on his condition and other factors, as well as the condition of the person about whom he testifies and the matter being testified to. The final decision rests with the judge of the case in which the smoker is to testify. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
