The Meaning of the Foundations of Religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question 33 from Fatwa No. ( 18612 )
Q 33: We request that you kindly clarify: what is meant by “the foundations of religion” specifically.
A 33 : The meaning of “the foundations of religion” varies. Sometimes it refers to the pillars of Islam and faith, sometimes to the topics of creed, and sometimes to the rulings of Islam that a Muslim is not excused for being ignorant of, such as the prohibition of unlawful sexual intercourse and intoxicants. These are terms that differ according to the opinions of the scholars who use them. There is no dispute over terminology. What matters for the Muslim is to carry out the command of Allah the Exalted and to refrain from His prohibitions by following the path of the pure Shari'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
