Standing for the Elderly in the Connecting Passages
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4564 )
Q2: While riding the bus, which is usually extremely crowded, is it better for me to remain seated—if I am able to sit—when I see an elderly person wanting to sit, or should I stand up so that he (or she) can sit, given that standing up causes (crushing) or contact with women?
A2: If the reality is as you described, that your standing up leads to crowding of women or their touching you—then remain seated in your place; to preserve yourself from the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and falling into evil. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
