The first question of Fatwa No. ( 888 )
Q1: I have three full paternal aunts. The eldest lives in the house that belongs to us, the second lives with her daughter’s husband, and the third lives with her husband. They have all agreed to cut off ties with me because of a shared inheritance among us. They wanted to sell it without my permission, as I am a partner with them in that inheritance, and without any of us knowing our respective shares. In fact, I prevented the buyer and returned to him the money he had paid them. I do not benefit from the produce of these properties or use any of them in any way. I have left them to them and traveled away. I want them to live on what the farms produce and reside in the house, on the condition that they do not dispose of anything. After they cut off ties with me, I isolated myself from them and remained alone. I am afraid of severing family ties, as I would be exposed to the punishment of one who severs family ties. I ask you to inform me about this, and about the status of these women in terms of family ties, and whether I am sinful for cutting them off, even though they cut me off and severed their ties with me first, and it was not I who did so.
with any of them, and I left them and traveled, and I want them to live on what the farm produces and stay in the house, on the condition that they do not dispose of anything. And after they cut ties with me, I isolated myself from them and remained alone, and I am afraid of severing family ties; for I would be exposed to the punishment of one who severs family ties. I ask you to inform me about this, and the status of these women among the degrees of kinship, and whether I am sinful in severing them? Even though they cut ties with me and severed their connection to me first, and it was not I who did it.
Answer 1 : Preventing your aunts from selling their right in their inheritance from their father is injustice and aggression on your part, for each of them has the right to dispose of what she owns according to the Shari'ah, and no one may prevent her from doing so as long as she is legally competent to dispose of her property. As for the severance that occurred between you and them, you are the cause of it, so you must seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him from this great sin, and you must ask their forgiveness and visit them, for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded maintaining family ties and said:[An-Nisa 4:1] And His saying: And the scholars agreed that maintaining family ties is obligatory and that severing them is forbidden. And al-Bukhari and Muslim and others narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6138 the hadith. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالأَرْحَامَAnd give the relative his due
وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّهُWhoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should unite the bond of kinship
