Eating the fruits of plants watered with sewage

The third question of Fatwa No. ( 20747 )
Q3: I work in Najran in a government administration with a very large residential complex, and among its necessities are sewage wells — may Allah reward you — and some date palms that bear fruit grow on the edges of these wells. I see some people eating some of the fruits of those palms, while others refrain from eating them on the grounds that the palms feed on sewage water and waste. My question: Is it permissible to eat the fruits of plants that feed (permanently and exclusively on a single source of nutrition, which is the sewage and the human waste that follows it), or is that not permissible; by analogy with the *jalalah* (animals that feed on filth) which are not eaten unless the prescribed legal conditions are applied to them, as long as they are capable of consuming human waste?
Vol. 3 : If the effect of impurities does not appear in the taste or smell of the fruits of these date palms, then it is permissible to eat them; because the original ruling is that eating them is permissible, unless the effect of the impurity appears in their taste or smell, in which case it is forbidden to consume them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
