She did not know that the medication prescribed by the doctor could affect the fetus

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19983 )
Q: Nine years ago, I became ill and went to the doctor. When the doctor came to prescribe my medication, he asked me: "Are you pregnant?" I told him: "No, I am not pregnant." So he prescribed me medication and an injection. I took them, and when I returned home, I felt pain and the fetus was aborted. I did not give the matter importance because I did not know that the medication would affect the fetus. I was not educated, and there was no one with me to teach me or who was educated. Now I feel guilty and I fear Allah that I may have committed a sin, especially when the doctor asked me about the pregnancy and I denied it. However, I did not know the consequences of that medication, namely that it would be the cause of aborting the fetus, which was three months old. What must I do to expiate for a sin I committed without knowing it?
A: If the fetus you aborted had reached four months before its abortion, then you owe an expiation, which is freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find one, then fast for two consecutive months. If it had not reached four months, then there is
no expiation upon you, and you must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) for that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
