Oath by the forbidden that his son dine with him, but he did not

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 824 )
Q: His son returned from a journey, so he swore an oath by the forbidden that his son would dine with him that night, and his son did not dine with him that night, and he asks what is incumbent upon him?

A: If the matter is as the questioner stated, that he swore an oath on his son that he would dine with him that night which he returned from his journey on, by saying: "I swear by the forbidden that you will dine with me tonight," and his son did not dine with him that night, then he is considered to have broken his oath, and upon him is the expiation for an oath due to his breaking it: feeding ten poor people, for each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If he does not find the means, then fasting for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
