I swore by divorce that I would inform so-and-so of a certain matter, and I made every effort to convey it

Fatwa number ( 376 )
Q: I swore by divorce that I would inform so-and-so of a certain matter, and my intention in swearing was to emphasize the conveyance of the message. The person in question lives in a city other than the one where I reside. I did the following: 1. I sent him a letter containing the substance of the matter I was to convey, and I confirmed that it reached him. 2. I went to his workplace, but he was traveling on leave. 3. I caught sight of him from a distance, and he was in a situation (in my opinion) that was not suitable for speaking to him. 4. I went to his workplace on the same day and informed him of the matter I was to convey. Will the divorce take effect or not?

A: If the matter is as you described, namely that you conveyed the news you swore by divorce to convey, whether in writing or orally, then you have not broken your oath of divorce, because you fulfilled the commitment you made to convey the message. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
