Taking responsibility for the care of a child and the government asked him to give him the family name

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 8592 )
Q2: I took responsibility for raising a child from an orphanage who has no father, meaning: his father is unknown. Before I took him from the government orphanage, they asked me to give this boy a family name without attributing him to me, so that he would have a surname only, without giving my name or my wife's name, so I agreed to that. Did I commit a mistake in that?
A2: You did well in taking the boy to raise him, but it is not permissible for you to give him your family name. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
