Questions six, seven, eight, and nine from Fatwa number ( 7811 ):
Q6: When the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who had built a canopy, he asked the Companions, "Who is the owner of this canopy?" They answered him. When he intended to greet the owner of the canopy, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. When the owner of the canopy asked the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), they said to him, "You built this canopy." So he went to the canopy and demolished it. When he saw the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he greeted him... What is the authenticity of this hadith?
A6: The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah with a difference in wording. In its chain of narration according to Ibn Majah is Isa ibn Abd al-A'la ibn Abi Furah , who is unknown in status, and in its chain as well, in both, is Abu Talhah al-Asadi , who is unknown in status. Thus, the hadith is considered weak.
