Q10: Whatis the ruling on women’s shrieking at celebrations?And is its prohibition due to the fact that a woman’s voice is an awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), or due to the fact that it is shrieking?
A10: It is forbidden because it is shrieking, not because every sound of a woman’s voice is an awrah. Rather, the awrah in her voice is what contains submission in her speech; for that leads to enticing men toward her and their desire for her.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
