The Ruling on Free Mixing with Women at Celebrations

The Shaykh: There is no doubt that mixing with women is evil. There is no doubt that it is one of the greatest causes of corruption and fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). Therefore, it is obligatory to distinguish, and for people to be separate: men separate and women separate. In celebrations, such as weddings, the men should be in a specific place where they eat and do the things that are customary for them, provided these do not contradict the Shari'ah. The women should be separate in their place, and regarding their celebration, their duff (the hand drum), and their singing among themselves, which does not harm anyone and does not involve loudspeakers, but is quiet, there is nothing wrong with this. All of this is in the category of displaying and announcing the lawful marriage.
As for free mixing, it is not permissible. A man mixing with women, whether young or not, is not permissible; because this leads to corruption, zina (unlawful sexual intercourse), and lewd acts. This is munkar (what is wrong) by the consensus of the Muslims. Yes.
