Fatwa number ( 8827 )
Q: I want you to answer the following as quickly as possible: If the inheritance is from a forbidden source, is it permissible for the heir to take the inheritance?
A: If the entire estate is from a forbidden source, it is not permissible for any of the heirs to take anything from it. They must return the injustices to their rightful owners if that is possible; otherwise, they should spend the forbidden money on acts of charity with the intention that it is on behalf of its rightful owners. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
