Kissing the Women of One’s Maternal and Paternal Uncles
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 3848 )
Q2: A man says: We are a close family, and when I return from travel, the women of my paternal and maternal uncles kiss me — that is, the women of my maternal uncle and the women of my paternal uncle —
and I know that these women are advanced in age, none of them being less than 45 years old. I greet them as I greet my sisters and daughters. I ask you to inform us of the ruling on this. May Allah preserve you.
A2: It is not permissible for you to kiss the women of your paternal uncle, the women of your maternal uncle, or your brothers’ wives. It is obligatory for them to observe hijab from you. It is obligatory for you to lower your gaze from them, just as it is obligatory for them to lower their gaze from you; for Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nur 24:30-31] the verse. You are not permitted to shake their hands; greeting with words is sufficient, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with women.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

(30) Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. (31) And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands
