Taking an interest-bearing loan from the bank for the purpose of marriage

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 8356 )
Q: I got married and concluded the marriage contract a year before this date, and I wish to bring her to my home, but that requires the mahr (bridal gift) that her father imposed on me, which is a large amount, between the mahr for her father and the condition for her. Since my current circumstances do not help me bring her to my home, and since I applied to one of the banks to provide me with a loan , and I would pay it back in installments, they informed me that they would take a percentage of the amount they would lend me. I am in dire need of that amount, and also out of my desire to hasten the marriage to satisfy my need and not look to others, I hope you will inform me. May Allah reward you with good.
A: This loan is not permissible for you, and the need you mentioned for the mahr is not a justification for taking a loan with an interest-bearing percentage from the bank or anyone else. You should fear Allah, for whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect. Whoever relies upon Allah, He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah carries out His command; He has set a measure for everything. We ask Allah to make your affairs easy, relieve your distress, and make you independent of the forbidden through the lawful.
