The third question of Fatwa No. ( 18401 )
Q3: I am the imam of one of the mosques, and I receive a financial reward from the endowments in exchange for leading the prayer in this mosque. I wish to move to another country that is about twenty kilometers away from the mosque. Is it permissible for me to appoint someone to lead the prayer in the mosque for a portion of the money and reward, with the remainder being for me, or is it not? And if I were to be absent from performing the prayer in the mosque for some of the obligatory prayers and perform some of them, would I be sinful regarding the reward I receive? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you.
A3: This is a matter for the endowments, so you must consult them and inform them of the situation. If they grant you permission, it is permissible; otherwise, it is not.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
