Conditions of I'tikaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Questions four, five, six, and seven from Fatwa number ( 6718 )
Q4: What are the conditions of i'tikaf, is fasting one of them, and is it permissible for the person in i'tikaf to visit a sick person, accept an invitation, attend to his family's needs, follow a funeral, or go to work?
A4: It is prescribed to perform i'tikaf in a mosque where the congregational prayer is held. If the person in i'tikaf is one for whom Jumu'ah is obligatory and a Jumu'ah falls within the duration of his i'tikaf, then it is better to do it in a mosque where Jumu'ah is held. Fasting is not obligatory for it. The Sunnah is that the person in i'tikaf should not visit a sick person during his i'tikaf, nor accept an invitation,
nor attend to his family's needs, nor attend a funeral, nor go to his work outside the mosque; for it is established from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said:
The sunnah for one who is observing i'tikaf (in a mosque) is not to visit a patient, or to attend a funeral, or touch or embrace one's wife, or go out for anything but necessary purposes.السنة على المعتكف ألا يعود مريضًا، ولا يشهد جنازة، ولا يمس امرأة، ولا يباشرها، ولا يخرج لحاجة إلا لما لا بد منه
