Is i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) specific to Ramadan? And what are its conditions?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence! There is another point where he says: Is i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) specific to Ramadan? Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform i'tikaf? And does i'tikaf have conditions?

Answer:
I'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) is not specific to Ramadan, but it is specific to mosques, and it is better in Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed i'tikaf in Ramadan, and he performed i'tikaf in Shawwal (peace and blessings be upon him). I'tikaf in the last ten days is better. Its conditions are that it be in a mosque, and that the person performing i'tikaf is not in a state of major ritual impurity, not menstruating, and not experiencing post-natal bleeding. Also, his i'tikaf must not prevent him from performing what Allah has made obligatory upon him. So, if it is in a mosque where congregational prayer is not performed, one does not perform i'tikaf there; one performs i'tikaf in mosques where there is a congregation so that he can pray with the congregation. Yes.
