Repentance and Abandoning Shareholding in Banks
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 5088 )
Q4: I used to hold shares in banks and benefited from them to some extent. If it is forbidden and I intend to repent and distance myself from it, is that sufficient or not?
A4: First: You must repent and seek forgiveness for committing the crime of participating in this forbidden matter, and you must abandon it and withdraw your shareholding, so that perhaps Allah may accept your repentance. He, the Exalted, is the One who said:[Taha 20:82] . Second: You must dispose of the profits you obtained as a result of this shareholding by spending them on the poor and the needy.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
