Is the Maghrib prayer shortened?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 12470 )
Q3: I was traveling with my wife when the time for the Maghrib prayer arrived. I intended to combine it with the 'Isha' prayer, specifically combining them by delaying the Maghrib until the time of 'Isha'. I then performed tayammum by striking the ground with my hands, but I did not wipe my face with them because I was ignorant of the ruling in such a matter. I then prayed Maghrib with two rak'ahs and 'Isha' with two rak'ahs. I led my wife in these prayers, and she was behind me. My questions are: 1. Is my tayammum valid? 2. Is it permissible to shorten
the Maghrib prayer? 3. Which is better: combining the prayers or praying them at their proper times while traveling? And if combining is the case, which is better: combining by advancing or combining by delaying? 4. Is my tayammum valid and my prayer valid, or is it obligatory for me to repeat the prayer? 5. If it is obligatory for me to repeat the prayer, when should I repeat it? At its proper time, or when I receive the answer from your eminence?

A3: First: Your tayammum is not valid because you left off wiping your face with your hands after striking them on the ground. Second: It is not permissible to shorten the Maghrib prayer, because shortening only applies to the four-rak'ah prayer, such as 'Isha'. Third: It is obligatory for you to repeat the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers because the tayammum was not valid, and because you left off one rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer with the intention of shortening it, whereas it is not shortened. The same applies to your wife. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
