The fourth question of the fatwa number ( 18644 )
Q4: What is the obligation of some imams who have little knowledge? Is it permissible for him to proceed with teaching and explaining the methodology of the people of the Sunnah from the methodologies of the misguided innovators? And is it obligatory for him to move in order to explain the reality of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and refute the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah) among those who seek blessing from shrines and the like, even if there is danger to his life and his self, or does that depend on the scholars?
A4: It is not permissible to engage in da'wah (calling others to Islam) and teaching except one who has knowledge of it; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: And if there is danger to his life, it is not obligatory for him to undertake it; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [At-Taghabun 64:16] And His saying, the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:195]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
