Q11: Is it permissible for us to study the books of religious sciences that
are published by the administration - Dar al-Tawhid - of the Republic of Iran ?
A 11: Regarding what you mentioned about reading Iranian religious books, we advise you to leave them; because they generally contain religious innovations and associating partners with Allah, and cursing the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We advise you to read the Qur'an frequently, with reflection and action, and we also advise you to read the approved exegeses, such as the Tafsir of Imam Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, and Imam al-Qurtubi, and al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir, and the books of hadith, such as: Sahih al-Imam al-Bukhari, and Imam Muslim, and the books of the four Sunan, and the Muwatta of Imam Malik, and the Musnads, such as the Musnad of Imam Ahmad, and the books of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), such as Fath al-Majid by Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan, and the books of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and the most concise and beneficial of them is al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and his student Ibn al-Qayyim, from the people of the Sunnah and the community. We warn you against the books of the people of innovation such as the Shi'ah and others. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
