The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4933 ):
Q2: What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-An'am 6:153] ?
A2: Allah the Exalted mentioned the foundations of Islam in the two verses preceding this verse, saying:[Al-An'am 6:151-152] , then He commanded following these foundations in His saying: [Al-An'am 6:153] , and He prohibited following the paths: meaning the ways that contradict His path. He clarified that if they follow other than His path and guidance which He legislated for them, the paths would diverge for them and they would stray from the straight path. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) explained this verse in what was narrated by the Imam Ahmad and al-Hakim , from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: , and al-Hakim said: It is authentic, and al-Bukhari and Muslim did not include it. It was narrated by al-Nasa'i and al-Tirmidhi from al-Nu'man ibn Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him), and al-Tirmidhi said: It is good and strange. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
Q2: What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
A2: Allah the Exalted mentioned the foundations of Islam in the two verses preceding this verse, saying:
(151) Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason." (152) And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line with his hand and then said: "This is the straight path of Allah." He drew lines to its right and left, then said: "These are the paths; there is no path among them but that there is a devil on it calling to it." Then he recited: "And that this is My straight path, so follow it, and do not follow the paths that diverge from His path."
