Interpretation of the Disconnected Letters

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 6395 ):
Q1: I hope Your Eminence will explain to me someof the meanings of verses such as (Ha-Mim, Alif-Lam-Mim, Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad, Ha-Mim, Ha-Mim-Sin-Qaf), and is this letter read as "ayn" because the teachers say so? And is it a miracle by which Allah intends to confound the eloquent onesof Quraysh, or does no one know its meaning except Allah?
A1: There are opinions among the scholars, and the stronger position is: that these letters were mentioned - and Allah knows best - at the beginning of the surahs in which they appear; to demonstrate the inimitability of the Qur'an, and that creation is incapable of producing anything comparable to it, even though it is composed of these disjointed letters with which they converse. This is the position upheld by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), and approved by Abu al-Hajjaj al-Mizzi (may Allah have mercy on him). And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
