What is the ruling on entering a mosque carpeted with sponge? And what is the ruling on prostrating on sponge in prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: O honorable Shaykh, what is the ruling on entering a mosque carpeted with sponge? And what is the ruling on prostrating on sponge in prayer?

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with praying in this mosque, but when he prostrates, let him press down on the sponge until it settles, based on the statement of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him):
We used to say (the noonprayer) with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the intense heat, but when someone amongst us found it hard to place his forehead on the ground, he spread his cloth and prostrated on it. كنا نصلي مع النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم في شدة الحر، فإذا لم يستطع أحدنا أن يمكن جبهته من الأرض بسط ثوبه وسجد عليه
Sahih Muslim 620
This indicates that it is necessary to place your forehead firmly, not just to put it on the sponge. That is, if you just put it there, it would not be true that you prostrated. So we say: if a person prays in the mosque or in his home on sponge, he must press down on it until it settles.
