Allah the Exalted has prescribed supplication and commanded it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The ninth question of fatwa number ( 8946 ):
Q9: Does supplication avert divine decree?
A9: Allah the Exalted has prescribed supplication and commanded it, saying:
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir 40:60]
and saying:
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Meوَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:186]
So if the servant performs the prescribed cause and supplicates, then that is part of the divine decree; it is averting the decree with a decree if Allah wills it. It is established in the authentic hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Indeed, the servant is deprived of provision by the sin he commits, and nothing averts the divine decree except supplication, and nothing increases in lifespan except righteousness.إن العبد ليُحرم الرزق بالذنب يصيبه ولا يرد القدر إلاَّ الدعاء ولا يزيد في العمر إلاَّ البر
. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
