The thirteenth question of Fatwa No. ( 4264 ):
Q13: Is it authentic from the Imam Ibn al-Qayyim that he denied traveling to the grave of al-Khalil and where is this statement? Is it permissible to travel to the grave of al-Khalil, and if it is permissible, what is the evidence for it? Did Ibn al-Qayyim say that the Fire will perish? And where is this statement?
A13: First: Traveling is not permissible except to the three mosques; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 326Sahih (Darussalam) , and this is the view of Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) and his Shaykh, the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah , and a large group of the people of
knowledge; acting in accordance with the aforementioned hadith. By this, you know that it is not permissible, in the most correct of the scholars’ opinions, to travel to the grave of al-Khalil or any other grave, due to the aforementioned hadith. Second: The view of Ibn al-Qayyim regarding the perishing of the Fire, you can refer to it in his book [Al-Wabil al-Sayb], in which he explicitly stated that the Fire does not perish, as is the view of the majority of the people of the Sunnah and the community. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
