Fatwa number ( 6303 ):
Q: I hold the position or job of a teacher, or as we call it, an instructor
in primary education, and I praise Allah for what He has bestowed upon me, and I am very comfortable with this noble job. However, the thing that confuses me is that I try to make the oneness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and to fear Him alone, with no partner with Him. In fact, I hope that this is not showing off (riya') on my part. I make the oneness of Allah and fear Him, and I look into matters that please Allah to do them, and matters that anger Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) to stay away from them. My only concern at this moment is looking for matters in which I have associated partners with Allah to stay away from them. As I mentioned, I am a teacher who is sincere in my work, and Allah knows best. But when I hear that one of the officials is coming, I mean: an inspector tasked with monitoring the implementation of programs and the educational level of the children and everything related to the department, at that time a fear that resembles the fear of a believer standing before his Lord comes over me. A fear that resembles the fear of one who fears Allah. I mean: I feel a pallor rising to my face. My brothers, do you not see that I have associated partners with Allah in this fear of this human being who has no power or strength? Add to this a human being who does not fear Allah. My brothers in Allah, advise me to the straight path if this leads me to associating partners with Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Indeed, regret almost tears my insides. I add to this clarification that I try to double my efforts when I feel that one of the inspectors is coming. Advise me, guide me to the straight path, and may Allah reward you with good.
A: Fear of Allah is among the best and most noble stations of the religion, and it is among the most comprehensive types of worship that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) commanded to be made sincere for Him. He said:[Ali 'Imran 3:175] And He promised (Glorified and Exalted is He) those who attain the station of fear of Him with two gardens, so He said: [Ar-Rahman 55:46] And He praised the angels by saying that they fear their Lord from above them, so He said: [An-Nahl 16:50] And there are many other verses in the Qur'an. The Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan mentioned in his book [Fath al-Majid] that fear is of three types: The first: Fear of the secret: which is to fear someone other than Allah, such as an idol or a tyrant, that they may afflict one with what one dislikes. As He said (Glorified and Exalted is He) about the people of Hud (peace be upon him), they said to him: [Hud 11:54-55] And He said: [Az-Zumar 39:36] And this is the reality of those who worship graves and the like of them from idols
whom they fear and with whom they threaten the people of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) when they deny their worship and command the sincerity of worship for Allah, and this contradicts tawhid. The second: That a person leaves what is obligatory upon him out of fear of some people. This is forbidden (haram), and it is a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah) that contradicts the perfection of tawhid. And this is the reason for the revelation of this verse:[Ali 'Imran 3:173-175] . The third: Natural fear: which is fear from an enemy, a wild beast, or the like. This is not blameworthy. As He said (Glorified and Exalted is He) in the story of Musa (peace be upon him): [Al-Qasas 28:21] the verse. From this, it appears that your fear of the inspector is of the third type (natural fear). So you must be sincere in your work always, whether the inspector is present or not, and you should double your efforts in teaching the students what benefits them, and strengthen your faith by reading the Qur'an frequently, reflecting on it, acting upon it, performing
the prayer at its time, and other matters of the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law). We ask Allah for steadfastness and success for us and for you in righteous deeds. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

A: Fear of Allah is among the best and most noble stations of the religion, and it is among the most comprehensive types of worship that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) commanded to be made sincere for Him. He said:
So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers.
But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -
They fear their Lord above them
(54) We only say that some of our gods have possessed you with evil." He said, "Indeed, I call Allah to witness, and witness [yourselves] that I am free from whatever you associate with Allah (55) Other than Him. So plot against me all together; then do not give me respite.
And [yet], they threaten you with those [they worship] other than Him
وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِالَّذِينَ مِنْ دُونِهِwhom they fear and with whom they threaten the people of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) when they deny their worship and command the sincerity of worship for Allah, and this contradicts tawhid. The second: That a person leaves what is obligatory upon him out of fear of some people. This is forbidden (haram), and it is a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah) that contradicts the perfection of tawhid. And this is the reason for the revelation of this verse:
(173) Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." (174) So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty. (175) That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers.
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension].
فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَائِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُthe prayer at its time, and other matters of the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law). We ask Allah for steadfastness and success for us and for you in righteous deeds. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
