Determining the time of a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse through the calculation of planetary motion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 4667 ):
Q1: We have seen what was published in the Al-Madinah newspaper, issue 5402, dated 4/3/1402 AH, stating that there will be a total lunar eclipse on the coming Saturday, that it will begin at 8:30 PM, that the partial eclipse will end on Sunday 38 minutes after midnight, and that the moon will exit the Earth's penumbra at 1:37 AM. And this occurred as stated.
A1: The time of a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse can be known through the calculation of planetary motion, and it is also known thereby whether that is total or partial, and there is nothing strange about that; because it is not among the matters of the unseen for everyone, but it is unseen for the one who does not know the science of calculating planetary motion, and it is not unseen for the one who knows that science, because he is able to know it through an ordinary cause, which is this science. And this does not contradict the fact that the eclipse or the lunar eclipse is a sign from the signs of Allah the Exalted by which He frightens His servants so that they may return to their Lord and be upright in His obedience.
And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
