A Woman Going to a Male Doctor
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 3598 ):
Q3: I ammarried to a woman, and it has been three years, and she has not borne any children. I want to have her examined by a doctor, but there is no female doctor available, only a male doctor. Is it permissible for him to examine her?And she refused the examination. My wife’s family has prevented me from giving her to me at all, except without modesty, and they are people who do not fear Allah except a little, and they desire separation between me and my wife, while we are reluctant. And when I complain about them to the religious authority, they force my wife to not accept me as a husband, and she is forced in this matter. Guide us to the correct solution, and some people tell me: “Cast a spell on them,” and I know that whoever goes to a sorcerer and believes him has associated partners with Allah, and I am confused in this matter: should I go to some sorcerers, or what should I do? Guide us, may Allah reward you, to the solution.
A3: First: It is permissible for her to present herself to a specialist doctor
to determine the causes of infertility, if a female specialist is not available, on the condition that he does not remain alone with her. Second: The disagreement between you and her family regarding transferring her from them to your place of work is one of the matters of litigation that must be referred to the courts. Third: Your statement that some people tell you to cast a spell on them, etc., is a terrible and abominable statement; because sorcery is forbidden to practice, forbidden to seek, and forbidden to believe in its practitioners. In fact, it is a type of major shirk (associating partners with Allah); due to the clear legal evidence that has been transmitted regarding this, which states that practicing it and learning it is disbelief. Among this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:102] the verse. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife
