Seeking Nearness to Allah through the Qur'an and Days
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6384 ):
Q1: Is it possible to seek nearness to Allah through a means (tawassul) by the Qur'an and the days , such as when a servant says: "I call upon You, my Lord, by the right of the Day of 'Arafah and the like"?
A1: It is permissible to seek nearness to Allah through the Qur'an; because it is the speech of Allah in both wording and meaning, and His speech is one of His attributes. Therefore, seeking nearness to Allah through it is seeking nearness to Allah through one of His attributes. This does not contradict the oneness of Allah, nor is it a means to associating partners with Allah. As for seeking nearness to Allah through a day, such as the example you mentioned, it is not permissible; because it is seeking nearness to Allah through a created thing, and it is a means to associating partners with Allah. Also, it is contrary to the evidence of the Shari'ah, such as the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1718b It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
