Seeking Nearness to Allah Through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Using the Form of Attribution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q6: I hope you will clarify the statement of the former Shaykh al-Islam, and whether he stated it as having been authentically reported from Imam Ahmad (may Allah be pleased with him), or whether it is in the form of attribution (tamrid) as is apparent from the wording?
A6: Its meaning has been clarified in the answer to the third question. As for what is attributed to Imam Ahmad regarding seeking nearness to Allah through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the form of attribution, we do not know of a sound path for it from Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), and even if it were authentic from him, it
would not be a proof. Rather, the correct view is what others stated regarding this, and they are the majority of the people of the Sunnah ; because the scriptural evidence in this matter is with them. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
