The Methodology of the People of the Sunnah and the Community: Refraining from What Occurred Between the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 7150 ):
Q4: In the authentic hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
When two Muslims fight (meet) each other with their swords, both the murderer as well as the murdered will go to the Hell-fire.' I said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! It is all right for the murderer but what about the murdered one?' Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "He surely had the intention to kill his companion."إذا التقى المسلمان بسيفيهما فالقاتل والمقتول في النار فقيل: هذا القاتل فما بال المقتول؟ فقال: كان حريصًا على قتل صاحبه
Sahih al-Bukhari 31
or as he said: What is the ruling regarding this hadith in the great fitnah during the days of the righteous caliphate?

A4: The methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community is to refrain from what occurred between the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and to be pleased with them all, and to believe that they were exercising independent legal reasoning in what they did. So whoever was right has two rewards, and whoever was wrong has one reward and his error is forgiven. The hadith mentioned is only about two Muslims who fight each other unjustly and oppressively, not through independent legal reasoning. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
