The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Abu Qatadah, Nu'aym ibn al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2888b : "When two Muslims meet with their swords," meaning that each of them intends to kill the other, so he draws his sword against him, and likewise if he brandishes a weapon against him, such as a rifle or anything else that kills, like a stone or the like. The mention of the sword here is by way of example, not by way of specification. Rather, if two Muslims meet by any means by which killing occurs, and one of them kills the other, then the killer and the killed are in the Fire, may Allah protect us from that. The killer is in the Fire and the killed is in the Fire. So Abu Qatadah said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): meaning that his being in the Fire is clear, because he killed a believing soul intentionally. And whoever kills a believing soul intentionally without right is in the Fire of Hell. Allah the Exalted said: [An-Nisa 4:93] . So Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): : And this phrase is what is known in the chapter of debate as "concession," meaning we concede that the killer is in the Fire, so what about the killed? How can he be in the Fire when he is the one who was killed? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6875 For this reason, he came with a weapon of killing to kill him, but the other overpowered him and killed him. So this, may Allah protect us from that, is the intention to kill, and his action is the cause leading to the killing, so he is as if he were the killer. For this reason, he said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6875 . So in this hadith is evidence that actions are by intentions, and that when this man intended to kill his companion, he became as if he had done it, meaning: as if he were the killer. And by this we know the difference between this hadith and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1421Sahih (Darussalam) , and his saying regarding the one who comes to take your wealth: . That is because the person who defends his wealth, his family, his self, and his honor is defending against an aggressor who is a violent attacker, who cannot be repelled except by killing. So here, if the violent attacker kills, he is in the Fire, and if the defender kills, he is a martyr in Paradise. This is the difference between them. By this, it is known that whoever kills his brother intending to kill him is in the Fire, and if his brother kills him while he intends to kill his brother but is unable to, then the killed is also in the Fire. Sahih Muslim 2888b . And in this hadith is evidence of the greatness of killing, and that it is among the causes of entering the Fire, may Allah protect us from that. And in it is evidence that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would present doubts to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would answer them. For this reason, we do not find anything in the Book and the Sunnah that contains a real doubt without its solution being found. Either its solution is in the Book and the Sunnah itself without a question being raised, or it is by raising a question that is answered. And among that is also: when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed: . In this is the clearest evidence that, praise be to Allah, there is nothing in the Book and the Sunnah that is doubtful without having a solution. But what exists is a deficiency in understanding, which is unable to know the solution, or a deficiency in seeking, where a person falls short and does not seek, does not reflect, and does not search, so the matter becomes doubtful to him. As for the reality, there is nothing in the Qur'an and the Sunnah—praise be to Allah—that is doubtful without its solution being found in the Book and the Sunnah, either initially or as an answer to a question that arises from the Companions. And Allah grants success.
