In some of our mosques, they combine the prayers: Zuhr and 'Asr, and Maghrib and 'Isha', without a valid excuse that permits combining. Should I pray with them?

Question: In some of our mosques, they combine the prayers: Zuhr and 'Asr, and Maghrib and 'Isha', without a valid excuse that permits combining. Should I pray with them? Or should I pray alone in the mosque? Or in my house? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer: Combining the prayers is not permissible except for a Shari'ah need and a Shari'ah excuse, such as travel, for example, or an illness that requires the patient to combine, or rain. These are the excuses that permit combining. As for combining without an excuse, as you mentioned, this is not permissible.
As for what you mentioned about whether you should pray with them if they do this, or not?
As we indicated, this combining is invalid, so you do not combine with them. However, pray the first prayer, and when they stand for the second, do not pray with them. It is obligatory for you to disapprove of this from them and to make it clear to them that this is an action that is not permissible. If they do not respond, then pray the first prayer with them, and do not pray the second prayer with them.
