In some schools, they conduct dialogues between inanimate objects and things that have no intellect, such as minutes and hours, for the sake of education; what is the ruling on that?

The questioner: There is another matter, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Regarding this, they place a dialogue between the minute, the second, the hour, and inanimate objects.

The Shaykh: Pardon me, what do they place?

The questioner: A dialogue between the minute, where it says to the hour: "Go back," and the minute says... meaning, this is one of those matters, meaning, a dialogue between inanimate objects.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: In the upbringing of children, is it...?

The Shaykh: Meaning, in the style of "Kalilah and Dimnah."

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: I do not see any objection to this, provided two conditions are met: First, that they completely abandon image-making, in all its details, except for what is absolutely necessary. Second, that they teach them examples, that they give them the examples that have come in the Book and the Sunnah. If those are not sufficient—and I do not think the matter will be so—then there is no harm in bringing in some of these examples I mentioned, subject to the condition mentioned earlier.
