The Shaykh’s warning about the necessity of not racing the imam in saying “Ameen.”
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Indeed, all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can mislead, and whoever He misleads, no one can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. As for what follows: I return to remind you, for a second time, and perhaps a third and fourth, of the obligation to pay attention to the command of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which He told you about yesterday, namely his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani). I have noticed that our warning regarding this mentioned hadith has gone down the drain, as if nothing had been mentioned of this hadith. You have preceded me in saying “Ameen,” and I know from experience that it is not easy for people to adopt a new habit, even if it is the truth, as long as another habit has dominated them. Therefore, uprooting it and eliminating its roots with a single lecture is not an easy matter. Thus, it is necessary to repeat this warning and reminder of this authentic hadith: Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani). We used to point this out in Syria, even though I was not an official, permanent imam, but I am now living in Amman, and we have a companion who is the imam of a mosque and preaches there every Friday. Many years have passed for him, and every Friday...
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
إذا أمَّنَ الإمام فأمِّنوا ؛ فإنه مَن وافَقَ تأمينُه تأمينَ الملائكة غُفِرَ له ما تقدَّم من ذنبهWhen the Imam says Amin, say Amin
إذا أمَّنَ الإمام فأمِّنوا
