The Shaykh’s advice to the worshippers not to precede the imam with the saying of “Ameen.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Saying “Ameen” before, oh people, I finish saying:
And not those who go astray.
, Ameen. I want to take a breath; because here is the position of the verse. And in the mosque—I do not say here that in all mosques, but in very few mosques in the whole world—the followers precede the imam with “Ameen.” His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in this hadith:
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
is like his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the other well-known hadith, which is also agreed upon for its authenticity by the two imams al-Bukhari and Muslim:
The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, then say Allahu Akbar; when he bows, then bow; when he says Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah, then say Rabbana wa lakal-hamd; when he prostrates then prostrate; and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1238Sahih (Darussalam)
, if he prays sitting; that is: due to weakness or illness, but he is deserving of leading the prayer because he is a reciter and because he is a scholar, and so on. The point of this hadith is his saying (peace be upon him):
The Imam is to be followed
Sahih al-Bukhari 1236
; so you must follow him, not only that you do not say the takbir of intention before him, and not only that you do not bow before him, but also that you do not say “Ameen” before him. Why? Because of the hadith you just heard, which is:
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
. When the imam says “Ameen,” say “Ameen.” What is the benefit of following this Prophetic command? He said (peace and blessings be upon him) in the completion of the hadith:
for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
