Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says, honorableThe Shaykh : How can I benefit from my reading of books of knowledge so that it does not go to waste?

The Shaykh : People differ in this. Some people have strong memory and intelligence, so they memorize a book just by going through it once and understanding the meaning. Some people have memory but not intelligence. Some people have intelligence but not memory. However, the one who is lacking must try to complete himself by reviewing frequently. And the best thing is that you should be able to, for example, memorize five lines and repeat them until they are as familiar to you as al-Fatihah. Then you move to another place. Then you review what you memorized yesterday.
And I was talking about what I used to do. I would memorize the text in the afternoon, and in the morning I would review and find that I had memorized it. And some people say the opposite: I memorize at the beginning of the day and review at the end of the day and find that I have memorized it. And a person is the master of himself. This is one point.
Second: If a rare benefit passes by you, meaning it is rare for it to pass by you, record it and make a special notebook for yourself in which you record these issues. For this reason, it was said: Record knowledge with writing.
Third: Strive to discuss with your colleagues and bring the matter to the shaykh, because with discussion the mind opens up, and a person gets accustomed to debate. And we in this era are in need of good debate, because the people of open sinfulness and lewdness have in them a strength of expression and fluency of tongue that may cause the truth to be lost in their falsehood.
