What is the ruling on reading the Qur'an in a group for the sake of memorization?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. What is the ruling on a group of people reading the Qur'an together? When we disapprove of it, they say: This facilitates memorization.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : They read the Qur'an in a group.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : When we disapprove of it, we tell them that this is not established. They say: This facilitates for us the memorization of the Qur'an.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : So what is its ruling? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : As for reading the Qur'an in unison for the sake of memorization or learning, there is nothing wrong with it. But if it is for the sake of worship, then it is not permissible. The difference between the two is that people may need the first, so it becomes permissible. As for the second, it is not permissible, because a person can worship by reciting the Qur'an even if no one is with him. Similarly, one who wants to memorize from a recording, as some memorizers do, by listening to the recording and following it, there is nothing wrong with it and no blame on him. Yes.
