Is it understood from the two hadiths (I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in a single garment, wrapped in it...

The Shaykh : The second question: Regarding 'Umar ibn Abi al-Salamah, who said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in a single garment, wrapped in it, in the house of Umm Salamah, with its two ends placed on his shoulders agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
If one of you prays, let him wear his two garments; for Allah is more deserving of being adorned for than anyone else. If he does not have two garments, let him wear an izar when he prays, and let none of you wrap himself in prayer in the manner of the Jews
. Do we understand from these two hadiths, regarding the word 'wrapping,' the jurisprudential maxim that the statement takes precedence over the action, or was the wrapping of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) different from the wrapping of the Jews? The latter answer is the one that should be adopted. The wrapping of the Messenger (peace be upon him) mentioned in the hadith of 'Umar ibn Abi al-Salamah is different from the wrapping of the Jews. It is explained in the hadith itself:
throwing the ends over his shoulders واضعًا طرفيه على عاتقيه
Sunan Ibn Majah 1049Sahih (Darussalam)
; meaning, like the idhtiba' in Hajj, one end here and one end there. This is not the wrapping of the Jews. The wrapping of the Jews is throwing the blanket over the shoulders and tucking it in like this. This is exposed to the slightest movement, where it might become uncovered, and his 'awrah or part of his 'awrah might be visible. Therefore, the wrapping of the Jews does not have the precaution in covering the 'awrah, unlike throwing one end here and one end there. The hadith of 'Umar ibn Abi al-Salamah mentions the word 'wrapping,' but it does not state that the wrapping became the wrapping of the Jews. Rather, it clarifies that this wrapping was by throwing one end of the garment here and one end of the garment there. What is prohibited is the wrapping of the Jews. The wrapping of the Jews is certainly different from what the Messenger did and different from what the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him) commanded.
