Continuation of the explanation of the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): (

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said - peace and blessings be upon him - :
Whoever does you a favor, then reciprocate ومَن أتى إليكم معروفًا فكافئوه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2567Da'if (Darussalam)
This is like the previous hadith:
Whoever some good was done to him مَن صُنِع إليه معروف فليَجزِهِ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2035Hasan (Darussalam)
If you do not find [a way to reward him], then pray for him. This is similar to the previous hadith:
If he does not find what to reward it with, let him praise him فإن لم يَجِدْ ما يَجزِهِ فليُثْنِ عليه
Here he says:
Then pray for him فادعوا له
, but in this hadith there is a benefit, as if it is an answer to a questioner asking until when we should pray for him. One person gave us a gift, or rewarded us with a reward, or fulfilled a need for us. The Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him - orders us to pray for him. So until when do we keep praying for him? Once, twice, or three times? He said - peace and blessings be upon him - :
then make supplication for the doer of the favour so that he knows that you have repaid him. فادعوا له حتى يعلمَ أن قد كافأتموه
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 216
The principle of the obligation, as we mentioned, is to be rewarded with the like of his reward, but not everyone can do this. So whoever is unable to do such a reward, then upon him, as in the previous hadith, is to praise him, to mention him before people with good, and with gratitude, generosity, and liberality. And in this hadith, he orders us to do something else, which is to pray for him. And how many times do we pray for him? We pray for him much and much until it becomes clear to us that he knows that we have rewarded him. That is, we pray for him so much that this abundant prayer surpasses his reward and his kindness to us. This is among the etiquettes of Islam with which the Messenger of Allah - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - taught us, and when Muslims adhere to it—the poor with the rich, the rich with the poor, the benefactor with the one he benefited, and the one benefited with the benefactor—the affairs of the group become straight, the state of the society is rectified, and they live in happiness, tranquility, and joy.
