The Shaykh : Here is a long hadith. Some of the women present requested that we explain it briefly. It is a valid hadith found in my book: "Sahih al-Jami' al-Saghir," and its wording is: Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam). The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says at the beginning of this hadith, which is a sermon, or rather, this hadith is a sermon delivered by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of Tamim al-Dari's return from a sea voyage in which he saw of the wonders of Allah's creation what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has hidden until the Hour. He saw the Dajjal and he saw the spy. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) had told them about the spy and the Dajjal before the story of Tamim al-Dari that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is now recounting in this sermon. He says to them: Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam), meaning that it is the custom of the Messenger (peace be upon him) to stand before the people, admonishing them, reminding them, encouraging them to what is with Allah by performing specific acts of obedience, and warning them of the severe punishment with Allah by forbidding them from what leads to falling into severe punishment. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: I have not gathered you for any of this, neither for hope nor for fear, as is the custom of the Messenger (peace be upon him). Rather, I gathered you to relate to you a story told to me by one of my Companions. It is supposed that the Companions speak about the Messenger, but here in this sermon, it is the Messenger (peace be upon him) who is speaking about one of his Companions. Therefore, the Messenger (peace be upon him) says: Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam). Tamim al-Dari was a Christian man who then embraced Islam, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased with him. After the Messenger (peace be upon him) had introduced the matter with that word, meaning he asked them to gather, and the custom is that he gathers them to admonish them, as we have detailed and mentioned, he says: I did not gather you for any of what you have become accustomed to from me, but Tamim al-Dari came to me and told me news that was very important and very joyful. Because of the intensity of my joy, it prevented me from my midday nap. The midday nap is the sleep of rest in the middle of the day. Therefore, he said (peace and blessings be upon him): . So, because of the intensity of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) joy with the news of Tamim al-Dari, sleep did not take him. This is natural; when a person is in a normal psychological state and needs sleep, he sleeps. But when his soul is agitated by joy or sadness, sleep does not take him. And every one of us knows that from himself. And so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is a human being by the text of the Book and the Sunnah. So, because of the intensity of his joy with the news of Tamim al-Dari regarding what he saw, this joy prevented him from the midday nap and the coolness of the eye. The Messenger was unable to sleep because of the intensity of the joy. Of course, "the coolness of the eye" is a metaphor for intense joy. [Al-Furqan 25:74], meaning something that cools the eye and rejoices the soul with intense joy. So, when the soul and eye of the Messenger (peace be upon him) were cooled by the news of Tamim, he was unable to take the midday nap. He said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam); meaning, for this reason I gathered you. I did not gather you for hope or fear that would benefit you, but rather to convey to you what is in my soul of joy that arose as a result of what Tamim al-Dari told me. He said (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam). The boats of the ship: the ship is usually large, so it anchors on the side of the coast, and then the small boats are lowered from it. He said: When the wind forced them to the island, they sat in the boats of the ship until they went out to the island via the boats. . A building in which a man says: The spy: Do you see this monastery? Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam), meaning the Messenger (peace be upon him) ; meaning the Arabs who believed in the Messenger (peace be upon him), and then he became hostile to those who disbelieved in him. So today they are gathered as one hand. He explains how he commanded them today, all of them, and says: Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam); meaning the spring is still abundant, so they water themselves from it and water their animals from it. Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam), meaning that it grows and bears fruit. Sunan Ibn Majah 4074Da'if (Darussalam).
By Allah, I am not standing here for something that will benefit you, an exhortation or warning.
By Allah, I am not standing here for something that will benefit you, an exhortation or warning.
By Allah, I am not standing here for something that will benefit you, an exhortation or warning. Rather Tamim Dari has come to me and told me something that prevented me from taking a rest because of the joy and delight (I felt), and I wanted to spread that joy among you.
Do not take the midday nap; for the devils do not take the midday nap
It prevented me from my midday nap due to joy and the coolness of the eye

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًاand I wanted to spread that joy among you
A cousin of Tamim Dari told me that the wind drove them to an island that they did not know, so they sat in the rowing boats of the ship and set out.
Then they saw a creature with a lot of hair—meaning a beast with a lot of hair. They asked it, “What are you?” It said, “I am the scout.” They said, “Tell us.” It said, “I am not going to tell you anything, nor am I going to ask you anything, but you have looked at this monastery and seen it, so go to it.”
Go to it, for there is a man there who is longing to hear your news and tell you news." So they went there and entered upon him, and they saw an old man firmly shackled, with a sorrowful appearance and complaining a great deal. He said to them: "Where have you come from?" They said: "From Sham." He said: "How are the Arabs faring?" They said: "We are from among the Arabs. What do you want to ask about?" He said: "What has this man done who has appeared among you?"
They said, “He intended good for a people, meaning he opposed a people, so Allah made him prevail over them, and their affair is now united.”
He said: "What happened to the spring of Zughar?" They said: "It is good; we irrigate out crops from it and drink from it."
He said: "What happened to the date-palms between 'Amman and Baisan?" They said: "They bear fruit every year."
He said: "What happened to the Lake of Tiberias?" They said: "It overflows because of the abundance of water."
