The Status of the Hadith of al-Jusay'ah

His Eminence the Shaykh: What is your opinion regarding the hadith of al-Jusay'ah in Sahih Muslim?Question: Our statement regarding it is that one’s soul does not find peace with its authenticity from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); due to the anomaly in the context of its text. Shaykh Muhammad Rashid Rida denied it greatly in his tafsir; because its context makes it unlikely to be from the speech of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

The questioner: Did anyone from the Salaf speak about it before Muhammad Rashid Rida?The Shaykh: I do not know, but it is not a condition. I have not followed the scholars’ statements regarding it, but I have some concern about it in my heart.
