(A man visited a brother of his in a village, so Allah sent an angel to him on his path, and he said: Where are you going?)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second question: In the previous session, I mentioned a hadith in the "Chapter on the Virtue of Visiting" from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
A man visited a brother of his in a village, so Allah put an angel in wait for him on the road. He asked, 'Where are you going?' He replied, 'To a brother of mine
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 350
.
Did the angel come in the form of a man or another form? And are there angels who walk on earth and come to people as some claim? And is this mentioned in the books of hadith or the biography? This question is actually good, but before answering it, I want to draw the attentionThe questioner : of the questioner and the attendees as well, that you must correct your Arabic language; do not break it or distort it, especially since this is a hadith. Look, what came in the text is: "A man visited a brother," whereas in the hadith
A man visited a brother
and in language, it is said that "rajul" (man) is the subject and "akhi" (brother) is the object, and so on. Then, "a brother of his in a village, so Allah sent for him an angel" is incorrect; it should be "so Allah sent for him an angel on his path, and he said: Where are you going?" He said: "A brother of mine. I want a brother" is not correct; it should be "I want a brother of mine." After this note, and I hope it has its effect, did the angel come in the form of a man or another form? The answer: In the form of a man. And are there angels who walk on earth and come to people as some claim? The answer: The first line is yes, and the second line is no. That is to say, there are undoubtedly angels who come and descend to the earth, and there are many, many hadiths about this, including the angels who attend gatherings of dhikr. But they are not in our forms, rather in their forms in which Allah created them, and it is their nature and characteristic that they are not seen, although some people may see them, as Yahya the Messenger (peace be upon him) saw a person speaking to him, and it was Jibril (peace and blessings be upon him). But this is a matter of the extraordinary.
So, the angel that came to that man who set out to visit his brother in his village was in the form of a human being. And this was among the practice of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with those before us, that He sends angels to them in the form of humans. And if we know this reality, the problem of the hadith that has always been raised by those weak in knowledge and faith in this time is resolved for us. It is a hadith in "al-Sahihayn" from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah - also - who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Angel of Death came to Musa and said to him: Answer your Lord. So he struck him a blow and gouged out his eye. He returned to his Lord and said: O my Lord, You sent me to a servant who hates death. He said: Return to him and say to him: I am the messenger of your Lord to you, that you put your hand on the skin of a bull, and for every hair under your hand, you have a year to live in. So this angel returned to Musa and conveyed to him the message of his Lord. Musa said: And what after that? He said: Death. He said: Then now
.
The doubt that is raised is: How does our Lord send an honored angel to a Messenger who is also honored and noble with Allah and chosen by Him
I have chosen you over the people with My messages and My words
[Al-A'raf 7:144]
, and then the position of Musa (Moses) toward the angel is that he strikes him with his palm and gouges out his eye?! This is the doubt. But this doubt quickly falls away when we know that this angel came to Musa in the form of a human being. This is what I say from my own knowledge. This came authentically in "Musnad al-Imam Ahmad" with a sound chain, with an interjected phrase when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Angel of Death came to Musa, and the angel at that time came in the form of a human being
: This is the text in the answer to this question. Likewise, this man was visited by an angel in the form of a human like him. So, if we return to the hadith of Musa and know that the angel came to him in the form of a human, then the position of Musa is the correct position, and not as the ignorant people imagine regarding this narration which clarifies that the angel came to him in the form of a human. Because any person who knows Allah and His judgments and His Shari'ah, if a person he does not know comes to him and says: "Give me your soul, I want to take the soul of your Lord," this person does not have that authority, so he must strike him with that palm. And it is good that he did not do to him what he did to that Pharaoh
Then Moses struck him, and he died.
. It is good that he did not kill him. So, Musa (peace be upon him) did not know at first that this was an angel sent by Allah because he came in the form of a human. When he brought him a message from Allah explaining to him that he was the Angel of Death and that Allah says to him: "Do you want to live? Put your hand on the back of a bull, and you will live for as many years as there are hairs under your hand." Then he said: "Death? Then take me now," because he was reassured that this was a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds. And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says, incidentally, at the end of this hadith:
So he took his soul, and if I had been there
, meaning there in Palestine
I would have shown you his grave at the red sand dune
Sahih Ibn Hibban 2:6
, with red sand over it. So, the angels used to walk on earth and meet humans in the form of humans. And now this divine practice has been lifted with the coming of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). But the angels descend to the mosques. He (peace be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
There are angels coming to you in succession at night, and others during the day
Sahih al-Bukhari 7486
: The angels of the night descend in the morning and remain until the afternoon. In the afternoon, it is their turn to go up, and those others descend, and so on
Angels succeed one another among you by night and by day.
, but in their forms which we do not see or witness.
So, with this, the answer to the second question - also - ends, and this is mentioned, as you heard, in authentic hadiths. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
