Examples from the hadith of the Messenger that contradict the athar of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): (For you are not able to change his character until you change his nature).

The Shaykh : Take a clear example of that: his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): If a person is created with a temper, defiant and harsh, is there any benefit in treating it? Why does the Messenger (peace be upon him) say: ? And why does he (peace and blessings be upon him) advise his Companions to accustom themselves and practice struggling against the angry self? A man from the Companions came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said to him (peace be upon him) a concise phrase consisting of two words: Just It appears the man had some heedlessness, as he did not realize the importance of this advice, which is composed of two words: Just. He said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said: He said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said: . He said: I found all the good in leaving anger.
If a person is inclined by nature to anger, and the Messenger says "do not get angry," is he then commanding him to do something impossible, like the one whose head we cut off, where there is no way to reattach it? No, that is not the case. Likewise, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions one day, emphasizing this character trait:. They said: The strong one among us, O Messenger of Allah, is the one who wrestles people and overpowers them. He said: . Both of these were intended by the Messenger (peace be upon him) to train the self, which may have a deviation in one aspect. It is impossible for there to be a person created with perfection in all traits; it is impossible. Man is created with deficiency so that he strives and struggles in the path of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So, at the time we find a person to be generous, noble, and bountiful, we may find him to be angry, and vice versa. Thus, this noble person must treat his anger, and that stingy, patient person must treat his stinginess and miserliness, and so on. On this basis of treatment and refining the self, the rulings of the Shari'ah were established. So He (the Exalted) said, as we mentioned: .
Knowledge is only acquired through learning, and forbearance is only acquired through practicing forbearance.
And forbearance is only acquired through practicing forbearance.
Do not get angry
Do not get angry
Do not get angry
Do not get angry
Do not get angry
If a person is inclined by nature to anger, and the Messenger says "do not get angry," is he then commanding him to do something impossible, like the one whose head we cut off, where there is no way to reattach it? No, that is not the case. Likewise, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions one day, emphasizing this character trait:
Do you know who the strong one is?
No, the strong one is not the one who overpowers in wrestling, but the strong one is the one who controls himself when angry.
He has succeeded who purifies it, and he has failed who neglects it.
