You stated that a woman must stay in her home and is not to be a caller to Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : You stated that a woman must stay in her home and is not to be a da'iyah (female caller to Islam). In another session, you mentioned that when a region of the Islamic world is invaded, jihad to repel the enemy becomes an individual obligation (fard 'ayn) for both men and women alike. Is not the intellectual invasion in our modern era more important and more dangerous than a regular invasion? Does this not necessitate that intellectual jihad becomes an individual obligation for both men and women alike to fight this enemy with its own weapons? How do you reconcile a woman engaging in da'wah with the statement that she should not be a da'iyah? My answer: If we assume that repelling this so-called intellectual invasion is an individual obligation for every Muslim man and woman, my response is that this alleged obligation has not been fulfilled by every Muslim man until it becomes the turn of every Muslim woman to fulfill it. So when he findsThe questioner : the Muslim men, in particular, have fulfilled the duty of countering this foreign ideology, then ask: Is it not obligatory for women to participate with the men in repelling this foreign invasion? But most men today do not engage in studying the Sunnah, through which the Qur'an can be understood. Without this understanding, or without studying the Book and the Sunnah, it is absolutely impossible to repel the foreign intellectual invasion. If this is the truth, and there is that other truth that the men do not all devote themselves and gather together to study the Book and the Sunnah to repel this European foreign invasion, how can we say that it is not obligatory for women to become da'iyat (female callers to Islam)? That is, to turn into callers like the men and leave their homes, while Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says to them:
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance وَقَرْنَ فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْأُولَى
[Al-Ahzab 33:33]
; knowing that seeking knowledge, by the consensus of Muslim scholars, is not an individual obligation for every Muslim. Otherwise, all Muslims would be sinful except a few scholars among them. But Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is Most Merciful and Compassionate to the believers, so He did not obligate every Muslim man and woman to be a scholar of Islam from A to Z. Rather, He obligated a group among them to understand the religion in detail and to convey this religion to the others who have not learned it. So how can it be said that it is obligatory for all women to learn this entire Islam to become callers and attackers of this sudden foreign invasion on the lands of Muslims? This is a deviation in the understanding of Islam in general, meaning: a deviation from the fact that seeking knowledge is not an individual obligation for every Muslim to learn from beginning to end. Rather, what is obligatory for the Muslim is what corrects his creed; this is an individual obligation, as we did regarding "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah). And yet, where are the Muslims who understand this reality? I say: If it were obligatory for every Muslim to be a scholar, then men and women would have to know the meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah," and then each would call within his or her specific circle: men with men, sometimes with women; women with women, sometimes with men, all explaining this word, because knowing it and believing in it is an individual obligation for a Muslim. However, knowing the rulings of purification, prayer, zakah, and Hajj in detail is not obligatory for every man in the world, let alone for every woman in the world. Consequently, knowing the ideas of the Westerners by which they attack Muslims in their own homes, through the books they insert among them, knowing these disbelieving methods is not an individual obligation for every Muslim, let alone for every Muslim woman. And I advise you finally with one word: We are today most like the time indicated by the Noble Qur'an when it said:
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:105]
, and the meaning of this verse is that the Muslim must learn and know what is right (ma'ruf) and enjoin it, and know what is wrong (munkar) and forbid it. If he finds hearts that are sealed, ears that are deaf, and eyes that are blind, it does not concern him; rather, he should concern himself with himself
upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:105]
. We are in this time when we must focus on ourselves before others. Once we have finished focusing on ourselves, then we move on to others. This is possible, but within a limited circle, as many of us do today.
