The Shaykh : Therefore, he cited under this chapter a hadith with its authentic chain: From Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, that his mother, Umm Kulthum, the daughter of 'Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt, informed him that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 385. The one who adds to the transmission of speech from one person to another in the path of reconciliation, whose transmitted speech is an addition that has no basis in praising the person to whom the speech is conveyed, and whose purpose is reconciliation between the two, this speech, even if it is fabricated falsehood, is not forbidden; that is, it is not among the forbidden lies. However, the original ruling for any speech that contradicts reality and constitutes a lie is that it is forbidden. There are many, and very many, hadiths warning the Muslim against making a habit of lying in his speech. Although this is forbidden, many forbidden things have exceptions, because there are benefits that follow from such exceptions, such as what came in this hadith: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 385; this is because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) forbade lying because of the many harms and damages that follow from it. Conversely, truthfulness was commanded because many benefits for people follow from it. So if the situation is reversed in some matters, and what results from truthfulness is what usually results from lying, then at that time truthfulness takes on the ruling of lying, and this truthfulness becomes forbidden. Conversely, if what results from lying is what results for you from truthfulness, the ruling of lying takes on the ruling of truthfulness, and at that time it becomes obligatory. All of this is in consideration of the objectives of the Shari'ah, and as I mentioned earlier: everyone knows that benefits for society follow from truthfulness, and the opposite is the case with lying entirely. Therefore, it is a rigidity of intellect and logic for some people to cling to the words and forbid lying even if it leads to the salvation of a believing soul.
Someone who makes peace between people by saying something good or relates something good is not a liar.
